Lulu Dee + Julie Peach

Welcome Monday!

Did you have a lovely weekend? I hope so! Ours was pretty relaxing, some time in the garden (when the sun finally decided to shine) and some cooking - which is always good : )

I'm looking forward to easing into this last alphabetical week with these two gems below.. shall we get started?

Lulu Dee

Live in Portland Oregon? check.
Live in a 1952 mid-century modern ranch? check.
Have been honing my skills of letterpress printing for the past year? check.

If you checked all three of the above, then you must be Laura Bachman Carignan from Lulu Dee. For those of you reading today who aren't Laura - doesn't it sound like she has the dream life?! It is no wonder that her work is full of crisp modernist goodness...

Julie Peach

Our dip into the tea-towel ocean last week had printed kitchen cloths jumping out at me all over place... this collection from Julie Peach was no exception.

Julie creates a collection of printed goodness that stretches way beyond tea towels and napkins; it includes a range of notebooks, cards, stationery, fabrics and homewares. However, I decided to pick out a few of my fave kitchen towels to share with you today - Can you believe that each one is individually hand illustrated? - wow!

Tina Tarnoff + Tabitha Bianca Brown

Friday! Another week has flown by!

I have a chocolate mousse cake in the oven and home made brandy snaps on the way, so I wont dilly dally today - are you ready?

Tina Tarnoff

My love for Paper Cut Art has been pretty vocal throughout these alphabetical journeys, and it is fantastic to find another artist to add to my favourites folder : )

Tina Tarnoff is one of these clever folk who can painstakingly and meticulously cut intricate patterns and designs out of paper...she does something quite special with them too - she prints them in miniature and encases them in vintage inspired pendants and brooches - have a look!

Tabitha Bianca Brown

I thought these illustrations by
Tabitha Bianca Brown would be a nice way to end the week...they are so soft and full of emotion and perfect for a pre-weekend ponder -

Tabitha has a variety of work in her store, she dabbles lots of different mediums... her
store is full of fab original pieces, limited edition and open edition prints...

"Illustrated snapshots of nature and urban life through the eyes of young people in (or out) of love."

Enjoy!

Sol Linero + StudioPatró

Hi!

Welcome to S! Shall we jump right in?

Sol Linero

I am loving the colour palette in this series of work by illustrator
Sol Linero. Based in Buenos Aires, Sol studied Graphic Design which lead on to a career in motion graphics and later to illustration.

I am so pleased Sol found a home with illustration! A self confessed tea lover, Sol's pieces often involve the ritual of tea drinking...the description for 'India' (the first image below) reads: "Mr Alfonso is on a tea expedition! He is seeking for the perfect tea leaf and of course, his good friend Poncho leads the way." Fun!

StudioPatró

You gotta love a good tea towel right? Luckily we are now blessed with tea towel collections that are not only functional but are beautiful as well.

This collection from StudioPatró fits perfectly - the "linen/cotton blend is absorbent and sturdy, yet luxurious, elegant and long lasting." The printed graphics are inspired by Typography and Urban Adventure...and the colours? - Strong, Modern and Grounded.

Enjoy!

My oldest boy is not feeling very well and is home from school today - so we have some snuggling, and reading, and maybe even some baking to do.

Have wonderful day! xxoo

Aqua Velvet + RE

Hi there : )

We are doubling up letters today - mainly because finding Q is proving to be getting trickier and trickier! If you have any Q suggestions feel free to drop me a line...

Aqua Velvet

Amy Henderson's
Aqua Velvet store has a nice mixture of original works, 1930's WPA reproduction prints and vintage goodies. I have chosen pieces from her artwork collection to share with you today.

"One of my favorite slices of vintage americana are posters created during the 1930’s-1940’s by various artists commissioned by the Work Projects Administration (WPA) as part of President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” initiative. Many of the artists worked in a very simplified graphic illustration style with bold hand-lettered typography.

The original silkscreen, lithograph and woodcut posters not only had great eye appeal but were assuredly very effective in publicizing health and safety programs; cultural programs including art exhibitions, theatrical, and musical performances; travel and tourism; educational programs; and community activities throughout the United States."

RE

A while ago over at Kickcan and Conkers I was introduced to a great UK store 'RE'. Inspired, owned and operated by Simon Young & Jenny Vaughan, RE is chock-full of all sorts of treats and goodies - and available online too!

"More of our products are presented online; our most REcent finds, some favourites; some raRE or REmarkable; some REcycled; some REscued and REstored; and look out for REgd. - our unique range of originals and textiles designed by RE, and made locally whenever possible."

I love shops that take you on a journey, through the past and the present... RE does just that.
