I have a special double post to share today... to make up for yesterday slipping into a void...

Luka Kristapaviciute

I stumbled across the work of Luka Kristapaviciute the other day and knew I had to share her Lukaluka ceramics with you. These super cute decorative pieces are hand painted and oven baked ready for display. (Luka will even throw in a plate stand that she has designed herself!)

It is the characters that Luka paints on each piece that make them truly unique. I love the description she gave to the Animal Vase (pictured 4th) below...

"Ms Fox loves drinking morning coffee in her balcony. She sits here and watches busy people going to work. Her neighbour, Mrs. Deer is famous actress, living next door. With other two friends they go for a glass of wine to the city or girls company go to dance somewhere on Friday night. Ms. Rabbit is dreaming all the time. She just left her umbrella somewhere in the park, always forgets to turn off lamps at home, she makes mistakes in letters, you know, that all happens when you fall in love. Ms. Cat, well known music critics writes articles for international magazines and dreaming to open her own music school. "

Linea Carta

I have been over at the Diva Pyari's Linea Carta website and I could of copied and pasted everything! But, I decided against it and thought I would share images of Diva's linen range as it is absolutely adorable. (Speaking of adorable you have to go and check out the cutest tees and the sweetest mobile).

I know I have ranted and raved about it in the past, but I just can't help doing it a bit more!! I have to let you know that the Autumn issue of Small Magazine is now out. As always it is jam packed with beautiful imagery, fantastic product and interesting reads - included in this season's edition is a 'fashion spread' by super talented Jayme McGowan, a fabulous DIY Dress-up section and gorgeous Polaroid shots by Jen Gotch...take a peek..

I sat down to write this with a cup of tea and half a packet of choccy biscuits, hoping it will keep me going! I haven't had much time today to put stuff together because................wait for it.................................drum roll please...................I've been asked to guest blog on Decor8 - well I responded to Holly's request for guest bloggers while she settles in Germany, and she said yes!! *thanks Holly!* I am so uber excited, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, or make enough room in my brain to come up with any contenders for 'S'...but here's what I have come up with, I hope you like it, and find something amongst it that inspires you...

Jenn Ski

Jennifer Skoropowski of Jenn Ski is an award-winning graphic designer and artist who quit her day job in early 2007 to pursue her creative dreams. Jenn's passion for modern and mid-century art and design is evident in her work.

I find her strong, vibrant colours and mesmerizing organic shapes somewhat hypnotising, and it is hard to resist the fluid journey your eyes are taken on as each piece is explored.

Small Magazine

Small Magazine is perfect for anyone who likes to make things and finds joy and fun in things small (and who may also be a parent or kid).

Launched in the Spring of 2007 (and now up to it's sixth edition), this little online book of creative goodness is welcome in my inbox any day.

Editors Christine Visneau and Olivia Pintos-Lopez have been friends since they shared an apartment together in Brooklyn over ten years ago. They started Small Magazine to support creative people working on a small scale and for the small sized.

"We think a return to grass roots creativity is good for the world and in a consuming society we can choose to support small companies and makers, and the independently creative."

Sugarloop

Bernadette Sipkes is a print maker and illustrator from Auckland NZ and is the creative force behind Sugarloop. It not surprising that people the world over are snapping up her prints from her humming Etsy store. Her impressive press list (which includes 'the big ones' Decor8, Design*Sponge, Domino Magazine etc, etc) only confirms how good her work is.

Her limited edition prints reflect her inspirations: mid-century kitchenware and textile prints; vintage wallpaper; Scandinavian design; Florence Broadhurst; Lotta Jansdotter; Marimekko and, Lefor-Openo.

Best get over to her store and snap up a piece of her work...

I only have a couple of J's for you today, as we have been snowed under over at Apple of My Eye...it is still well worth the read though! Lotta Jansdotter

Lotta Anderson is a self taught designer. Her style is inspired by her world travels and her Scandinavian roots, and these, mixed with her entrepreneurial spirit have her established firmly in the textile world.

Working from her Brooklyn (New York) studio, Lotta creates her collection under he name Lotta Jansdotter (Jans being her fathers name and Dotter meaning daughter in Swedish). Her prints are simple and beautiful, and her textiles, patterns, stationery and books have been embraced the world over.

Like many people all over the world, I hope you too can find some inspiration in Lotta's work...here is a selection from her collection:

Juniper


There is a sparkly, shiny and very new Juniper store in Newtown (Wellington, NZ). Re-Launching itself in its new space last month, Juniper remains a haven for artists, craftspeople and shoppers to showcase (and purchase) their wares.

Mindy Dalzell opened the original Juniper store in 2006, as a gifts, designer florist, and handcraft gallery. This has proved to be a colourful and fun combination that has been welcomed by shoppers and designers alike.

Showcasing work from all over the world, the shop houses a whole assortment of goods, from baby clothes through to ceramics. And luckily, for stationery-loving-online-ooglers *read that as being me!* their fix of Sukie Stationery and Jill Bliss Journals is awaiting in store alongside a whole bunch of kiwi goodness.

Once a month Juniper lights up like a lantern as Mindy hosts one of her popular craft nights. Attendees can make themselves comfy amongst all the goodies in the store and be treated to a 'lucky dip' crafty project to complete during the evening. - sounds like fun!!
